“seeking intelligent discourse”

No, I'm not as pompous as my intro line implies, although in the interests of full disclosure I did consider writing 'Postmodern thinker seeks intellectually stimulating discourse' instead, and that would have been even worse. The reason for all of that silliness is simply that I was trying to think of some way to give a sense that I am looking for something more substantive than a 'chatting about the weather and exchanging anecdotes about co-workers' sort of relationship. I'm interested in all sorts of things, and love to engage in long and involved conversations about 'why' and what it all means, and I'd love to find someone who is similarly inclined. While it's true that it helps to have a few things in common, the important ingredients for a good relationship are far more complex than just simply sharing similar tastes. However, since this sort of thing seems to be de rigeur on this site, here are a few pertinent facts about me. I have no interest in sports. I drive an older truck and mainly wear blue jeans but I am not the type of person you are likely to picture when you hear either of those things. I don't watch television and have few relevant pop-culture references at my disposal. I believe in giving, by which I mean that I don't loan, there doesn't have to be an occasion, and I don't care what it costs me. If you need it, and I can give it, it's yours. I believe there are intrinsic values which have nothing to do with how cheap or expensive something is. I really want to know how your day was and what you are feeling. I have no interest in hanging out with 'the guys' and in fact have few close male friends. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself and this includes cooking, cleaning, laundry and so on. If you want to help or share these activities, that's great, but I don't need nor am I looking for someone to do them for me.
