I'm an entomologist (insect scientist), enjoy hiking in our mountains, skiing, cycling and jogging. Looking to perhaps work overseas next 5 years. I don't smoke, I'm fascinated by all things real. Love building things, many interests, including science, technology, movies, reading, exploring new places, the real world. The observable universe is astonishing enough without inventing hocus-pocus to make it more confusing, etc etc... I'd call my political views a combination of liberal (ie left), coupled with an almost right wing pragmatism, eg, don't spend more than you earn, encourage people to help themselves, be skeptical of extreme political correctness and censorship. However, I intensely DISLIKE xenophobic, and homophobic views (akin to discriminating against height or eye color: Utterly foolish), the unnecessarily wealthy and the economic growth myth. Having been trained as an evolutionary biologist I can only understand life in evolutionary those term: We (humans) are not special, we do not live in a special place or time and are not important. To think otherwise is incredibly arrogant I think. But this doesn't mean there is no hope: On the contrary; we have a precious opportunity to investigate this astonishing thing called existence, in fact we should make every effort to do so every day. Oh yea, and I like having fun too. Drop me a line to chat some time. Incidentally, I'm not completely restricted to 'friendship only' (I'm heterosexual by the way). End of long winded, solipsistic spiel!
