Odinsravens's Blog Darwin Badge 12 goes missing
Posted by Odinsravens on 2009-11-15 10:09:22.

Going for the Sunday papers this morning ,I find someone has "borrowed" yet another Darwin badge from the back of my jeep ! So whilst doing the now endlessly repetitive task of checking glove box , door pockets etc to find another one - Ahh that is what they don't tell you - the volume discounts are for replacments ! Finally found an Evolve fish - stick on in same place and drive to shop ! Whilst contemplating someone's actions ,if they are religious is it not breaking the commandments of... 2 comments

Exene's Blog When Love Turns To Hate - Revised On 12/15
Posted by Exene on 2009-09-12 21:45:05.

Love really doesn't turn to hate - it was just something I was feeling at the time but I have recovered from the sadness. We get over things, we have to accept things as they are. I just have to look past his faults when he does something that bothers me. It's going to happen sometimes. It isn't the end of the world, and now I even find that things haven't changed so much after all. Sometimes we just have to accept, let things go, open up and love again. There's nothing else... 2 comments

Exene's Blog Show Me The Love - Revised on 12/15
Posted by Exene on 2009-09-04 08:53:28.

The contents of this blog entry have been deleted - information is too personal about my father. He and I had a tough time; there can be no question about that. Yet, as I look at him as he is now, I don't see how hanging onto all the injustices from childhood is going to make anything better. My father wasn't a perfect dad - he sure as hell didn't do everything right and yet I will never find it in me to hate him. He is old now, in need of company and despite all the tensions a part of my heart bleeds for him. In the end, love always prevails. 2 comments

Exene's Blog I Can Be Hateful Too - Revised on 12/15
Posted by Exene on 2009-09-04 07:04:26.

Boy, I really was having a rough time, wasn't I...? Anyway - so. No, I don't like porn and I still don't. Not for me, end of the story. But it doesn't mean that I have to be hateful. Visited with little sister last night and showed her the cover of the LP. I asked her what it looked like to her, her answer was what I thought it would be. No big surprises there. We were raised in a very strict Irish-Catholic family. Church every Sunday, CCD classes, singing in the choir about how wonderful Jesus... 2 comments

Exene's Blog Everybody Has Their Time
Posted by Exene on 2009-07-02 09:56:40.

...So I just found out this morning, that my uncle passed away earlier today. I called my dad (the two were brothers) to see how he was doing; he seemed to be taking the news pretty well. Uncle was very sick, the last few months of his life; and when someone is as sick as he was toward the end, death can almost seem like a hidden blessing to the suffering. Whenever someone I care about passes on, the whole concept of a god comes back to the forefront of my mind. Death is very hard for people to... One comment

Exene's Blog My Sister's Got Her Head Parked Up Her Ass
Posted by Exene on 2009-05-27 15:33:41.

...Last night I was so angry with my sister I swear I could have killed her. I go visit her every week, once a week; she has problems and very little money so I go over her place to help out and lend her some support. I clean her dishes, buy us dinner and we usually do some drinking while we 'hang out'. But last night the situation was ridiculous. There is a woman in my sister's apartment building that she has been getting 'chummy' with lately (that lives two doors down from her); and last night... 2 comments

Exene's Blog Priest Gets Caught On The Beach With A Chick... He Be Damned!!
Posted by Exene on 2009-05-18 09:58:32.

I caught a snippet of news, about a priest being caught on the beach with a woman (I think it was somewhere in Florida). What I say about this is, I HOPE THE SEX WAS TERRIFIC. This whole idea about modern-day priests expecting to be celibate their entire lives... quite frankly I just don't understand it. Look, in Goethe's time (18th and 19th centuries), maybe this way of life made more sense; men everywhere during this period were getting what they called 'The French disease' from prostitutes,... Exene's Blog Where Are The Voices Of PETA?
Posted by Exene on 2009-05-02 22:03:01.

With the Egyptian government poised to begin the slaughter of 300-350,000 pigs over the next month (due to fears of swine flu), I am very surprised that there hasn't been a word about this from groups like PETA, or the vegetarians. I'm surprised that there hasn't yet been a protest (somewhere in California maybe), with PETA members holding signs reading 'Save the Pigs', or something to this effect. Vegetarians hold tight to the ideal that (someday) humans will give up their consumption of meat -... No comments

Exene's Blog The Quiet Strength Of The Russians
Posted by Exene on 2009-05-02 21:50:54.

As was mentioned in the previous blog entry, dangerous criminals sometimes cloak themselves in positions of power in order to carry out malicious deeds on a massive scale. Josef Stalin was a vicious, brutal man, the type that most likely would have killed his own mother if it had brought him political gain. During the second world war, millions of Russians perished; and I seem to remember reading that Russian fatalities were higher in number than those who were killed under Hitler. So much talk about...
